Spring openings, winter closings

Pool openings and closings, by the week

Goodlin offers spring openings and winter closings, as little or as much as you like.

Chapter 01

Getting on the opening schedule

We proudly offer spring pool openings and winter closings so pool ownership stays easy. We can do as little or as much as you like, and the idea is to take the dirty work off your hands.

A large volume of openings lands in a small window, so we cannot guarantee a specific date or time. We typically schedule by the week, and we will do our best to meet your needs. It is never too early to get on the schedule, by phone or by email.

For an opening, our crew removes the pool cover, reconnects all plumbing lines to the equipment, and places ladders and handrails. If the water is at operational level we start the equipment, test the heater if there is one, and add shock and algaecide.

Winter closings, step by step

A closing starts with the machinery. We winterize the pump, the filter and the heater or heat pump, then cleans the filter. Closings are also scheduled by the week and by location, again with no guaranteed date or time.

Next come the removals and the cover. The diving board, ladder and handrails come off, your existing cover goes on, and the skimmers and return lines are winterized. Additional services are available on request, so ask when you book.

One customer who had us close their pool said the crew was in and out quickly and even took the pump down to the shed. The homeowner's part is short: adjust the water chemistry, say where equipment should be stored, give access to water and electricity, and clear debris first.

Chapter 03

Payment, repairs and what is extra

Payment is due the day of the service. Pricing does not include removal of leaves or vacuuming, so a winter cover loaded with leaves is best cleared before the crew arrives. For your price, call the office.

Minor repairs under $60.00 will be completed without prior approval. Any major repairs need the homeowner's approval and will result in a return service charge, so nothing large gets done on a guess.

Once the pool is running, the next call is usually about the water. We test samples in a Lamotte spin lab, and the water chemistry page covers what to do when the water goes cloudy or the pump needs more hours.

“Excellent job opening our pool. We had a bad pump motor, they got us a new one and installed it the same day.” A Goodlin customer.
